MLM Lead Generation-What You Need to Know

MLM lead generation-Driving traffic to your capture page

MLM  lead generation doesn’t instantly run on auto-pilot without first putting in the time and effort to get it going. It doesn’t happen by magic even if you have the “best” system on the planet. A good system is important to generate leads not only for yourself but your team as well.

What constitutes a good lead system?

There’s a lot of lead systems out there. What you’re looking for is overall value. You can’t really judge by price alone. So what are a few key things to look for? You’re looking to build a list. Your list, not someone elses. At the very least you want to be able to export your leads. You can then import them into your personal autoresponder or into your email program. (Remember to still give them a way to opt out if they don’t want to receive emails from you). Another good reason to export your leads is to brand yourself, let them get to know the person behind the system.

MLM lead generation is about providing value in exchange for a name and email address. If it turns out that there’s no real value your lead will not stay a lead for long. Value can in many forms. An ebook, video or audio tutorials on driving traffic to a blog or how to talk to prospects are two examples. Value can also be an ongoing process like training calls or webinars. Some of your leads may convert to business partners or they may just be looking for a good system.

So you’ve found a good system, now what?

If no one knows you have value to offer you’ll never get any leads. So how do you drive traffic to your lead capture page? There’s several ways free and paid.

Pay-per-click or ppc.
Google adwords is a ppc search engine. If you go this route make sure you learn how to advertise on adwords effectively first or you’ll end up racking up your credit cards and having nothing to show for it. One recommended resource is Perry Marshall. You can sign up for his email list, newsletter or purchase his guide on Google adwords.

You can drive traffic from your blog but it takes some time to drive traffic to your blog first. As your blog gets stronger and receives steady traffic it’s a great way to capture leads and brand yourself.

Article marketing is also effective. When writing your article don’t make it a big advertisement for your system. Providing value is your first goal.

Ezine advertising can also be an effective way to drive traffic to your MLM lead generation capture page. Pick high quality ezines with relatively high subscription rates. There’s usually a charge for your ad depending on the ezine and the type of ad you place. Solo ads give you the best ability to attract attention and are often emailed out to the ezine list as a stand-alone ad.

The success of any form of content marketing depends on the quality of the copy. There’s a lot of free and paid resources on writing good copy. Do a google search and you’ll find many resources on copy writing. Keyword research is also important with content marketing and also with any form of advertising.

The most important activity with advertising is consistency. Decide what form of marketing you’d like to concentrate on and be consistent in your efforts. Whether you’re writing articles or blogging, quality content once a week is better than posting mediocre content everyday. Building an MLM business online does require skills but you don’t need to learn everything at once. Decide how you’re going to drive traffic to your MLM lead generation capture page and concentrate on learning those skills and pass those skills on to your organization..

Warning: Don’t wait until you know everything to get started, just get started. Learn the basics. You’ll continually improve as time and your skill level continues to increase. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed with all the information that’s out there and yes, you can have fun.

Thanks Joe! The best way to get to our destination is planning the route first.

Hello Janet,
great post. Good point about getting overloaded with TMI. It is easy to do. But if we choose a certain route for a set time or for good, it makes us focus in one area long enough to learn the good, bad, and indifferent about it, whether it is ezines or blogging or PPC. It also gives us a chance to become good at one thing too.

Great Stuff!

HI Janet,

an awesome and thorough introduction to lead generation. Whatever lead generation we use, it's very important to be consistent. Without consistency, impossible to get momentum. Thanks for this reminder.

Take care

Your welcome Oliver! Sometimes we get so busy we forget it's the small consistencies that keep us moving forward.

Great post. It was hard learning all the basics and where I should focus on when I first started out. I agree with Janet in that sometimes we do learn the hard way! Looking forward to more blog posts!

Hi Amber, been there myself too.

HI Janet!

Great post and great blog! I have to say that I learned the hard way, consistency is really the best kept secret to success. Talent will develop, skills will improve, and traffic will find you when you are consistent!

Thanks for the great information!

Hey Heather, sometimes we have to learn the hard way! I know from reading your blog you learned the lesson very well. Keep up the great work!

Janet,

You make such a good point here. I always tell everyone that this process is an ongoing process. the best way to learn is as we go through it, not before we begin. That's not to say I think it's a bad idea to learn the basics before beginning, and definitely a good idea to figure out a rough game-plan before beginning. But... Get started ASAP.

Hey Janet,

Great write up! I have to agree with you, when I first got started I focused on one thing, and that was blogging before I jumped into other areas of marketing and spread myself thin.

Awesome advice!

Hi Ryan, thanks for the comment! Anyone can be an expert on something if they just focus on one thing. I wish you continued success!
